How to distinguish

Aedes albopictus

Aedes albopictus, also known as the Asian tiger mosquito, usually have the following two characteristics:

Smaller than 1-cent coin

The Asian tiger mosquito has a size of roughly 3-10mm and fits easily on a 1-cent coin.

The insect is black and has prominent white markings

The body of the Asian tiger mosquito is covered in black scales. In between, white and silver scales generate a striking color pattern. Your insect could be an Asian tiger mosquito if such a color pattern is visible.
